It might seem counterintuitive to clean your face with oil, but oil cleansing can have some serious benefits for your skin. One way to deal with excess sebum is to fight oil with oil. Lipophilic oil cleansers attract sebum, as well as the oils found in makeup and skincare.
Oil-based cleansers have healing properties that nourish and protect your skin. Unlike traditional cleansers that might irritate your skin, oil-based cleansers are gentle on your skin. They seal in hydration inside your skin. This quality gives oil cleansers a two-pronged approach to caring for skin. Not only can they pull out impurities from within the skin, but they can also reach down deeper than your average water-based wash.
